Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer at Angels’ Attic

Angels’ Attic is a volunteer-run WCUMC ministry supporting local and global charities through the sale of donated merchandise. Angels’ Attic Upscale Resale, located at 1250 William D Tate Ave, Suite 350, in Grapevine Towne Center, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 to 6. Men and women are needed as volunteers to sort donations and ready them for display, test electronics, pick up and deliver furniture, research prices, repair furniture, display and stage merchandise, and greet and wait on customers. Volunteers may work regular weekly 2 hour shifts or substitute as needed. Volunteer opportunities can be tailored to fit your schedule. Contact Angels’ Attic to schedule volunteer hours, call them at 817-251-9451 or simply show up when you have the time.

Cooking With Care at Ronald McDonald House

Every second and third Monday of each month, we need volunteers to prepare lunch for the families with children who are critically ill at Cook Children’s Medical Hospital in Fort Worth. Approximately 50 people to cook for. The Cooking With Care Team shops for the food and prepares the meals on-site for the parents of critically ill children. You may go every month or every other month and join a team of ladies who share their love and fellowship not only with the parents, but with each other. We need no more than 15 people at a time and the ages able to volunteer are 15 years old and up.

Agape Meal

Join us every fourth Thursday of the month as we help serve the homeless through the Agape Meal program at Broadway Baptist Church in Fort Worth. Volunteers meet at White’s Chapel at 4:30 p.m. for a group prayer and to ride on the bus over to Fort Worth. We return no later than 8 p.m. If you’d prefer to meet the group there, please plan to arrive no later than 5:30 p.m. for brief training and an overview of the Agape Meal program. The address for Broadway Baptist Church is 315 W. Broadway Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76104. Parking is available on the east side of the church in the designated church parking lot. Children are welcome, but we ask that they be five or older to serve. Dress is casual.

Angel Forest

The popular FaithWorks Angel Forest donation event has begun! Individuals may have noticed that the Concourse is now filled with trees, containing hidden ‘angels’ within them.

Instead of having one angel tree to donate to this season, White’s Chapel is having a whole forest of trees and “angels” to pick from. Each type of tree will represent a different group in crisis, allowing people to focus on a particular area of outreach that they are passionate about.

“I think that’s one of the great things about our church,” Rev. Dara Austin, pastor for FaithWorks Mission and Outreach. “We try to figure out the greatest needs and work to fill those needs.”

This event, running from Nov. 1 until Nov. 30, allows individuals to participate in a donation experience that is unique to White’s Chapel. Families and individuals are encouraged to participate in this year’s event by supporting an ‘angel.’ Participants can donate to the event, volunteer to sort materials or deliver donated items to people in need this holiday season. The church partners with many different organizations in order to provide for those in crisis. There are 10 different groups represented in this event.

Guatemala Adult Mission Trip – January 6 – 11, 2019

Can you imagine cooking all of your meals over a campfire on the ground in an enclosed sod house? Join the FaithWorks mission team on our trip to Chichicastenago, Guatemala, where we will work in a local village and build cooking stoves. Current campfires cause tremendous health concerns for the women and children in terms of smoke inhalation and accidental falls into the fire. We work with the Stove Builders of Guatemala. Check out their video on www.stovebuildersofguatemala.com to understand the impact these stoves have on the Mayan people of Guatemala.

Travel, lodging and most meals are included in your cost. You will have private rooms at the Hotel Santo Tomas in Chichicastenago and one night in the town of Antigua. Meals and activities on the excursion day will be on your own. Please join us in making a tremendous difference in the health of these beautiful people of God while making some wonderful new friends. Cost is $1,850 per person.

Costa Rica Adult Missions – February 19 – 25, 2019; February 22 – 28, 2019

Here’s your chance to be Christ’s hands and feet and help rebuild the last children’s home of the Roblealto Bible Home in San Jose, Costa Rica. Roblealto’s mission is to care for the children of Costa Rica who are in critical situations, at social risk and in need of specialized care. The Bible Home provides these children with a home they share with 10 other children and live in a safe home with house parents. This will be the ninth home on their campus. We are there for whatever the Roblealto family needs. Work is found for all adults, no matter your capability, but being with the children is the best part. We will have time to play with the kids, participate in their worship and enjoy a day of Field Games and pizza. Just seeing the excitement of a child being chosen to say the epvraeyneinrgand then go on and on and on…. inspires your heart.

We will be going in two groups this year with the excursion and worship/field games days combining both teams. Travel, lodging, breakfasts and lunches are included in the registration fee. We will have a day to explore the culture of Costa Rica, on your own cost. Cost is $1,900 per person.

Come and meet the children of Roblealto and have your heart warmed. Check out their website at www.Roblealto.org.
