Lunch Buddies (Woman Mentors) and (Men Mentors)

When: During the School Year

Every Thursday, mentor 30+ at risk young girls and boys from 2nd-5th grade. Willingness to form relationships with these young children. This is a new program for anyone that would like to go have lunch with young children and hang out with them over a meal. These children have parents that work during the day and never have visitors during the school year.

Serving with LOVE

When: Monthly

Every second Saturday of the month, we travel to the Women’s and Children’s Shelter in Fort Worth to serve dinner, play games with the children and moms and engage conversation with them. Meet at the church at 4:30 for briefing and are finished by 6:30-6:45. Families are welcome but children must be 8 years of age and older and accompanied by parents. You must confirm your presence if you are attending.

Kids for Camp (Casa of Tarrant County)

When: April 22 – May 21

Church / Community ** Each year White’s Chapel collects camping supplies for foster children to attend a special camp through Casa of Tarrant County and Camp Carter. Congregation is asked to bring a new sleeping bag, towels, hygiene items, bug spray and other items that are needed.  Items are brought to the church and then volunteers are needed to deliver to Casa in Fort Worth. This begins April 22-May 21.

Project Transformation

When: June

Assistance is given to at risk students that need help with math or English. This is 4 days in June where you would coach young children.

Tutors

When: During the School Year

Weekly assistance during the school year helping at risk elementary children with study habits. You can tutor in reading, math, science or if bi-lingual there are opportunities as well. Tutors work with our partner school in Haltom City, O.H. Stowe Elementary.

Teacher Support

When: During the School Year

Teachers are provided with a back to school lunch and to help kick off the school year. We help with back to school breakfast for teachers and other appreciation events during the school year. Schedule is flexible and when you can participate.

Agape Meal

When: Monthly

Every 4th Thursday a team serve others in Ft. Worth at Broadway Baptist Church.

Ronald McDonald House

When: Monthly

Teams go to Ronald McDonald House the 2nd and third Monday of each month to cook. Time frame is from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Habitat for Humanity

FaithWorks either sponsors a house or contributes sponsorships dollars to help fund some of the house.

GRACE/Feed Our Kids

When: Three weeks in June

First 3 weeks of June volunteers provide lunches at their expense for 85-130 children M-F located at the Grace food pantry.

Food Drive

When: September

Annual food drive. Benefits agencies in Northeast Tarrant County.

UMCOR – Early Response Disaster Recovery Team

When: As Needed

Volunteers go through an extensive 8 hr. training by UMCOR on how to assist in the event of a natural disaster or man-made disaster. Teams are called to serve when we receive notice by the central Texas conference coordinator. Teams usually go out 3-4 days at a time.

Home with a Heart

When: As Needed

Men & women are working with area agencies to renovate individual apartments for individual familes transitioning from homelessness to housing. There are 2 opportunities, (1) remodel and (2) decorate and set up the household.

Dirty Dozen + YOU

When: As Needed

Join this exceptional group of men that are the hands and feet of Christ. They remodel apartments, homes, repairs, and are literally the hands and feet of Christ as they serve as they are able. All different kinds of opportunities are available during the week and weekend. You are sent a text and if you can help you respond. If not, that’s ok. There is always the next time!

Mary & Martha’s + YOU

When: As Needed

Join this exceptional group of ladies that are the hands and feet of Christ. From running an errand for an elderly person, helping stock a close closet at our partner school, quilting, decorating, cooking, gardening, administrative skills, there is an opportunity for you. You can help when you are available and for a ministry that appeals to you. A text will be sent out and you can respond if you are available to help. If you can’t, there is always next time!
